Canadian shows great composure by converting his only two break points against Sam Querrey.
20-year old Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime (ATP 21) has repeated is success from 2019, once again reaching the final of the MercedesCup at Stuttgart’s Weissenhof. On Sunday, Auger-Aliassime will try to polish his bad record in finals, as the Canadian super talent wasn’t able to win one of his seven finals on the ATP tour to date.
Against Sam Querrey (ATP/67), Auger-Aliassime played like a veteran. During the whole match he got only two chances to break his opponent’s service, but was able to convey both of these chances. The first one meant the set, the second one the match. In the end it was 6-4, 7-5 for Auger-Aliassime.
Marin Cilic (CRO/ATP 47) benefitted from Jurij Rodionov’s (AUT/ATP 142) withdrawal at the start of the second set due to a hip injury. The Austrian had already had treatment during Friday’s quarterfinal against Australian de Minaur after falling. At the time of his withdrawal, Cilic was leading 6-3, 1-0.
