Leading online bookmaker signs three year contract. And after Nick Kyrgios and Stan Wawrinka, Denis Shapovalov also confirmed Stuttgart!
Stuttgart, 28th May 2021 – The organizers of the MercedesCup in Stuttgart (June 7-13, 2021) can announce a remarkable achievement in terms of sponsor acquisition. Leading online bookmaker Betway and the ATP tournament on the premises of the TC Weissenhof e.V. have agreed to a three year partnership.“In challenging times like these, we are very happy to have agreed on a sponsoring deal for the MercedesCup with a worldwide successful company like Betway. As a global player, Betway strategically focuses on tennis. This goes to show that the sport of tennis works very well as a communication platform. The MercedesCup takes center stage in Betway’s international orientation – not least due to the comprehensive live TV broadcast offering, digital presence & innovation as well as the social media and fan engagement initiatives of the grass court highlight at the TC Weissenhof”, emphasizes MercedesCup tournament director Edwin Weindorfer.
“We are overjoyed to become the Official Betting Partner of the MercedesCup as we continue to showcase our support of Tennis around the world and we look forward to being part of such a historic event”, Anthony Werkman, CEO of Betway, explains. The sponsorship further demonstrates Betway’s commitment to Tennis, with partnerships including the Mutua Madrid Open, Miami Open and Estoril Open already in place. This announcement continues Betway’s commitment to supporting the biggest sporting events around the world.By closing the deal with Betway, the MercedesCup continues the positive trend of being able to rely on its partners and sponsors despite the difficult conditions surrounding this year’s edition of the tournament. Led by Mercedes-Benz as title sponsor, as well as premium sponsors Liqui Moly, Gazi, CG Elementum, Lavazza, Wir machen Druck and Emirates, the tournament is supported by lots of companies leading in their respective industries.
The MercedesCup 2021 places emphasis on innovative elements, thus living up to the most modern requirements in terms of infrastructure and media use. This includes a freshly developed event app and the use of a 270 degree LED board, which frames the center court on three sides, thus contributing to a more flexible and attention-grabbing display of the partners and sponsors. There will be no line judges on the courts. Instead, the line calling will be operated on all match courts by the Hawk-Eye-LIVE technology for the first time during an ATP or WTA grass court tournament.
Due to shoulder problems, Denis Shapovalov has withdrawn from the French Open in Paris. This does not jeopardize his appearance in Stuttgart, however, as the Canadian’s management was quick to point out to Edwin Weindorfer. Despite the scheduling overlap of the French Open’s second week and the MercedesCup already three top stars are confirmed to play in Stuttgart, as Nick Kyrgios (AUS) and Stan Wawrinka (SUI) will also forgo the Grand Slam tournament in Paris.
