The Weissenhof gets his much desired second round duel: Tommy Haas against Roger Federer. Four more Germans will also be in action on the Center Court.
Immediately after the main draw was set it was clear that Wednesday could become an exciting day at the MercedesCup at Stuttgart’s TC Weissenhof. That was, if Tommy Haas were able to win his first-round match and thus set up the clash with 18-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer. The German veteran followed suit, dispatching Frenchman Pierres-Hugues Herbert in three sets.
The match between Haas and Federer is scheduled as the third match on the Centre Court. Start time will be 3.30 pm. Immediately before, another German will see action on the Centre Court as Philipp Kohlschreiber will take on no. 5 seeded American Steve Johnson in their second round match.
But the action at the Weissenhof already starts at 11 am with a pure German battle to advance to the quarter finals: qualifier Yannick Hanfmann will face veteran Mischa Zverev, the tournament’s no. 6. The final match of the day will be Jan-Lennard Struff against no. 4 seeded Lucas Pouille from France (not before 5.30 pm).
