Kids Day at the MercedesCup
Two dozen children of VfB Stuttgart’s “Fritzle-Club” tried out how it feels to be a writer at a very special press conference.
There was noise and fun in the MercedesCup’s media center like never before, when two dozen children of the “Fritzle-Club” entered the transformed tennis arena of the TC Weissenhof and filled it with youthful enthusiasm.
The focus was on youngster Daniel Altmaier and veteran Andre Begeman. Both of them had at least as much fun as the kids during the approximately 30 minutes long kids press conference. Fortunately, there were questions which no journalist would dare to ask during a “grown-up press conference”. Like: “What kind of face do you make when you lose?” Altmaier’s answer to the question how he became a tennis player was also very enlightening. Answer: more or less by accident, “there was an open house at our local tennis club. Had my mother read an ad of a dancing school in the newspaper I would much likely be a dancer today.”
Afterwards there was also an autograph session where Fritzle also helped out a lot.
