Because rain made it impossible to play the whole schedule on Monday, the MercedesCup at Stuttgart’s Weissenhof will see an even fuller program on Tuesday. There will be five matches just on the Centercourt.
It all starts off at 11 am with Denis Shapovalov (CAN/8) agains Jan-Lennard Struff (GER). After early exits by Philipp Kohlschreiber and Mischa Zverev, he aims to become the first German in this year’s second round.
Star, stars, stars on the Centercourt
Right after that, Canada’s shooting star Felix Auger-Aliassime (7) will make his Stuttgart debut against Ernests Gulbis from Latvia. Then, last year’s semi-finalist Nick Kyrgios (AUS) will set foot on Stuttgart’s grass for the first time this year. He will face Italian Matteo Berrettini. As if that wasn’t enough, the fans will be treated to a battle between Gael Monfils (FRA/5) and Steve Johnson (USA). Rounding out the day on the Centercourt will be a great doubles match between Oliver Marach/Jürgen Melzer (AUT/4) and Mischa and Alexander Zverev (GER).
Exciting matches on the Mercedes Court
The program on the other courts also leaves nothing to desire. Fans at the Mercedes Court can look forward to seeing Milos Raonic or Lucas Pouille, the winner from 2017, who will face Feliciano Lopez (ESP) in a re-match of the final from 2017. Furthermore, Peter Gojowczyk will fight against Frenchman Giles Simon for a spot in the second round.
