MercedesCup starts with Germany-Day

Stuttgart,

Today play of the main draw starts. No less than four German members will take up their rackets already on Monday.

The best news first: Two Germans have survived the qualification: Peter Gojowczyk beat Belgian Ruben Bemelmans 6:4, 7:6 (7/4), Yannick Hanfmann overpowered his compatriot Yannick Maden 6:4, 6:1.

Hanfmann will already play again today in the main draw. He will face Marton Fucsovics from Hungary, yet another qualifier, in the third match of the day.

Action starts at 11 am on the Centre Court with wildcard player Maximilian Marterer who will clash with no. 5 seed Steve Johnson from the USA. At 1.30 pm Jan-Lennard Struff will play against Lukas Lacko – a Slovakian qualifier.

The final match of the day sees Mischa Zverev face Malek Jaziri from Tunisia at 5.30 pm.
