On Tuesday, 8th June, the MercedesCup finally kicks off for good. Due to the still to be finished qualification there will be no less than 10 matches at the Weissenhof.
It all starts at 11 am on the Centercourt with the last German standing in the qualification: Peter Gojowczyk will meet Frenchman Gregoire Barrere in a fight for a spot in the main draw.
Directly after that, the main draw already kicks off with fan favorite Dustin Brown who received a wild card and will play against Nikolaz Basilashvili (ATP no. 31) from Georgia. “We know each other quite well and have already practiced together”, said Brown after the drawing ceremony which he helped conduct himself. “It isn’t an easy draw, but there are no easy draws here anyway.”
This match is followed by Rudi Molleker, also receiving a wildcard, against former US Open winner Marin Cilic (ATP 47) from Croatia. The day on the centercourt is concluded by Gilles Simon (FRA) against Lloyd Harris (RSA).
The fourth match of the main draw is scheduled as the third match on the Mercedes Court: Ugo Humbert, the French no. 6 of the tournament, will meet Hungarian Marton Fucsovics.
