Stuttgart,

Thursday means round last 16 at the MercedesCup. Fans will see some big names.

One who is said to be one such big name in the near future will open play on the centercourt: 18-year old Swiss Dominic Stricker (ATP 335) has made good use of his wildcard. In his second match at Stuttgart’s Weissenhof he will face none other than Hubert Hurkacz (POL/ATP 20) who has won the ATP 1000 Masters event in Miami this year.

This match is followed by the first German of the day as Yannick Hanfmann will face Ugo Humbert (FRA/32). Then it’s on to a Canadian double feature as Felix Auger-Aliassime (CAN/21), the finalist from 2019, will play against Lloyd Harris (RSA/54).

The final match on the centercourt features the tournament’s number 1, Denis Shapovalov (CAN/14) against Feliciano Lopez (ESP/62).

Other matches of the day: Marin Cilic (CRO/47), US Open champion from 2014 against Nikoloz Basilashvili (GEO/31), Alex de Minaur (AUS/22) against fellow countryman Jordan Thompson (AUS/64) and Peter Gojowczyk (GER/134) against Jurij Rodionov (AUT/142).
