Siemens extends technology partnership with the MercedesCup
Bridgestone – a new premium sponsor is added
Stuttgart, 16 May 2018. – Siemens has extended its technology partnership with the MercedesCup, which was started last year, for another year. The declared goal of the partners is to lucratively implement the possibilities of the cloud based visualization and analysis of data based on the open IoT operation system MindSphere by Siemens. In 2018 the Greenkeeper app will be applied. This application is supposed to support the groundkeepers in enhancing the quality of the grass. “MindSphere opens up completely new possibilities to gain advantage from data analysis – not only in industrial production but also in a whole lot of other areas. The Greenkeeper app allows for reducing costs and resources and still get the best possible playing conditions and performance on the court”, explains Klaus Helmrich, member of the Siemens AG directorate. Additionally, relevant growth data, like salinity and irrigation are collected by MindSphere, then analyzed and provided to the groundkeeper’s app, who can then regulate the grass care accordingly. The continuation of the cooperation with Siemens is an important component to offer the tennis stars perfect conditions for their way to the Grand Slam highlight in Wimbledon. To meet these expectations, four courts at the Weissenhof were supplied with a completely new grass surface.
