Great news for all tennis fans: Germany's No 1, Alexander Zverev, opens his grass court season 2020 at the MercedesCup in Stuttgart.
With the current tennis season reaching its culmination at the Nitto ATP Finals in London, e|motion sports is already working towards the 42nd issue of the MercedesCup from 6-14 June 2020! Seven months before the grass court highlight at the TC Weissenhof, tournament director Edwin Weindorfer has already great news for the fans: “Germany’s No 1, Alexander Zverev, will play in next year’s MercedesCup”, said Weindorfer.
Thereby, Alexander Zverev will start his grass court season 2020 in Stuttgart: “It’s always a great motivation for me to play in front of my German fans – Stuttgart is a very special tournament, due to its unique atmosphere and the one-of-a-kind ambiance of the Weissenhof. I’m really looking forward to next year”, Zverev stressed after beating the Spanish world No 1 Rafael Nadal 6-2, 6-4 at the Nitto ATP Finals on Monday. If he can keep his form it is quite possible that the 22-year old from Hamburg could defend his title from last year.“It is a great privilige that we can announce Alexander Zverev’s participation in the MercedesCup 2020 already now. He has shown great form in the past weeks, reaching the semifinals at the ATP 500 tournament in Beijing and the finals at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Shanghai. His victory over Rafael Nadal was yet another confirmation that he is back. I am convinced that he will take his form into the new year and play a strong 2020 season. With his versatile game he will also be a favorite for the title at next year’s MercedesCup”, said Weindorfer.
